It's like giving a glass of ice water to somebody in hell!

"It's like giving a glass of ice water to somebody in hell!"

On how Apple is the largest developer for Microsoft Windows due to the popularity of its iTunes software, at the All Things Digital Conference 5 (30 May 2007), on stage with Bill Gates, Kara Swisher and Walter Mossberg.

It took us three years to build the NeXT computer.

"It took us three years to build the NeXT computer. If we'd given customers what they said they wanted, we'd have built a computer they'd have been happy with a year after we spoke to them - not something they'd want now."

Just figure out what's next.

"I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what's next."

I am saddened, not by Microsoft's success...

"I am saddened, not by Microsoft's success — I have no problem with their success. They've earned their success, for the most part. I have a problem with the fact that they just make really third-rate products."

Triumph of the Nerds (1996)

Because I'm the CEO, and I think it can be done.

"Because I'm the CEO, and I think it can be done."

On why he chose to override engineers who thought the iMac wasn't feasible, as quoted in TIME magazine (24 October, 2005)

Every once in a while, a revolutionary product comes along ...

"Every once in a while, a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything. It's very fortunate if you can work on just one of these in your career.... Apple's been very fortunate in that it's introduced a few of these."

Announcing the introduction of the iPhone, as quoted in Apple unveils cell phone, Apple TV (9 January 2007)

Design is how it works.

"People think it's this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, 'Make it look good!' That's not what we think design is. It's not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works."

Steve, you are amazing and when the Apple store opened, I ran right in during the countdown. I have the iPad, the iPod & the iPod touch. My mom has an iPhone and my school has an iPad too. It's amazing really how you got so far in life. I love technology like yours and you are my role-model. Yours sincerely, Kayleigh E.

Steve Jobs, I've turn my family around to Apple everything! Like from a PC to a Mac and a phone to an iPhone and from a MP3 to an iPod touch and they are pleased with it. I even got my Pastor from a phone to an iPhone and his wife and kids love it! I'm going soon to get a MacBook Pro and my brother, a MacBook air and my Mom, a Pro. Bu my Dad is getting a PC because his job will pay for it, though I've told him 'you're getting a piece of junk, that is like a piece of garbage' and one day I will work for you guys, the big 3. See you someday.

I want to work with you

Steve Jobs, you're the man and I'm getting more people like my family to turn from junk computers and cell phones and MP3s to Apple computers and the iPhone 4 or 3 GS and an iPod. I want to work with you in the future and the other guys.

I am a very happy iPhone user. I do own 2 PC's but when I can afford to get new ones, they will definitely be Apple MacBooks. Hopefully that day will come soon. Thanks so much for the iPhone 4, I'll never own anything but an iPhone for my mobile communications. Doug.

Mr. Jobs, if you read this, I will pass out

Mr. Jobs, if you read this, I would pass out. I'm 10 years old and I know everything about you. I have a G4 cube, iBook G3, clamshell, MacBook, iMac G3, iBook G4 and an iMac. I use my computers all the time. I'm on my iPhone right now, and I would do anything to meet you. My Grandpa just died and he gave me $1000 and I tried to come see you, but my Mom said I couldn't, so I got a MacBook instead. I use a picture of you and Jony Ive for my screen saver for all my stuff. I love you so much and I hope you feel better!
